The National Cancer Coalition announces their annual Advocacy Day on the Hill. This program offers us the opportunity to meet, face to face, with our elected officials and let them know that we need more funding to help us with our fight against prostate cancer. Here is an opportunity to let congress know how we feel. If you don’t participate in any other advocacy program this is the one to attend.

As we all know, our prostate community has not historically spoken out. As a result, we have limited numbers of treatments for men with advanced prostate cancer. The treatments for the newly diagnosed are also limited and have a failure rate between 30% and 40%! We need more dollars, more of our own tax dollars, earmarked for research into prostate cancer.

The National Prostate Cancer Coalition is thrilled to announce our annual
Advocacy Day on the Hill. This year’s event will be held on Thursday,
September 27 and Friday, September 28. As part of Advocacy Day, NPCC will
set up meetings for you with your Congressperson on Capitol Hill, where you
will meet with them or their Chief of Staff to discuss the importance of
prostate cancer research funding. This is a rare opportunity to meet
face-to-face with your member of Congress and discuss this important issue
with the people you have elected. This is also an ideal opportunity for
members of Congress to meet real people with real concerns.

We have arranged for economical accommodations with the Days Inn on
Connecticut Avenue in Northwest, DC, close to the historic National
Cathedral. The two-day event includes a free private guided tour of the
Capitol building, a workshop on effective advocacy, and an evening reception
with great networking opportunities. Please note attendees must provide
transportation to and from Washington.

NPCC is dedicated to raising awareness through outreach and advocacy, and we
need your help to make sure the issues of the prostate cancer community are
heard. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in
participating in Advocacy Day on the Hill. Spaces are filling up fast!
