My personal belief is what does it matter since all of our goals really should be finding ways to live our lives to the fullest, gain all possible life extensions while also maintaining a decent quality of life. There are things that are just out of our personal control, those we just need to accept. Their are things that we can control, those we have to grab hold of and make them happen.

11years starting with Gleason 8, did IMRT at MD Anderson, rising psa at 1yr and started intermittent hormone therapy at MSKCC.
First clinical trial using testosterone and then back to Lupron. Did a vaccine trial Rockefeller U with my psa rising to 24by the culmination. Next was a clinical trial of mdvn3100 which worked for 3 years, when psa rose back to 24, radiated a stable 5yr old metastatic lesion and psa droppedto 11 almost immediately. After six months psa rose to 26 and wii began Zytiga Friday.
I believe I remember you saying that prostate cancer could become a manageable
Disease Caught early enough. I’m trying!

Gleason score of 8, had 9 weeks radiation along with Lupron. Psa dropped to 0.4 and has been steadily rising, now at 38 with 2 small lesions on right hip. Doctor ordered another psa in a month and will decide then wether to start chemo. Having done it for Hodgkins I would much rather an alternative.
Diagnosed in Feb. 2010, PSA score of 8.4, Gleason 8’s and 9’s ,7 out of 12 cores. Several small bone mets. in pelvis. Treated with Lupron, brought PSA down to 0.7. After 12 months,PSA stared Elevating. Started clinical trial, MDV 3100 vs Casedex,in May it’s a double blind. PSA was an 8.0 at start of study, and scans showed no progression. In Aug my PSA was a 16.4, but at end of july scans showed no progression. But doctor felt we should give trial another 4 weeks as the only pain I had was an intermittent one (every 6 to 8 weeks for about the last 6 months)in my Right leg which I have controlled with pecorset. My latest PSA was 25.6. , I shared with my doctor that I was becoming very concerned that the treatment may not be working. I’m seeing him this morning but in a phone conversation last night he still feels we may want to wait before trying something else as even though the PSA has risen we weren’t seeing any progression in the last scans. Incidently I am sixty one. I apologize for the length of this post. Tom
50 years old and just found out my cancer has spread to my spine ribs and femur. Had surgery 6 years ago and salvage radiation 4 years ago. Was on intermittent hormone therapy but stopped 2 years ago because psa was undetectable. Had swollen lymph node last week which turned out to be cancer. Too young to die. I go to Roswell park Thursday to see if I am eligible for a clinical trial. Any advice would be great. Scared my time is limited with the cancer spreading to my bones. Thanks
Terry- It is unclear to me what you actually did two years ago? When you stopped hormone therapy did you also stop monitoring your PSA?
