Today I asked my grandmother if she has ever sent a Father’s Day card to my dad. Her response was “Why? He’s not my daddy.” I thought about that while I laughed at my no holds barred granny. Every year since I have become daddy my mother-in-law has sent me a card and I like getting it. She stands out because no one else has ever consistently given me one other than my wife and my son. I told my mother that I didn’t recieve her card today so I’ll probably get it Monday. To that she said, “You crack yourself up don’t cha?” On Mother’s Day we send out cards like we work?in the promotions department of?Hallmark -?grandmothers, aunts, mothers, in-laws all get from Dev or from the wife and I. (Not that I’m keeping score.)
My question is:?Do you give cards to?most of the fathers you know, or just?your dad?(and husband if you got one)?
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all the dads that put in the time and love it!
And a?special Happy Father’s Day to Tim Russert, a dad who?held fatherhood and all good fathers in high esteem.
Happy Father’s Day! I give a card to my husband, and sometimes to my step-dad. My husband gives one to his father when he remembers.
I’ve never given one to my father (or anyone else) in all my 50 years, but this year I got my first one, from my six-year old, where he drew a picture of me wearing a tie (and believe me, he has never seen me wearing a tie). It was pretty sweet and makes me feel guilty for all my non-card-giving years :}
We give greetings more than we give cards, but I do make sure my son makes up cards for his grandfathers, and my wife helps him make one for me.
Whoops– clicked send before I added Happy Father’s Day to you, too!
Happy Father’s Day to a Father who’s happy about being a father…Enjoy!
I typically send to my father, but no one else (when I don’t I call for a long conversation or I visit and treat him to something like play tickets with my mother). And only my mother gives me cards other than the wife and kids.
Happy Father’s Day to dads everywhere who treat the calling as an honor and privilege!
Happy Father’s Day!
We’re pretty card happy- this year I did slack and didn’t get one for my Godfather. The others on the standard list who did receive their cards are my husband, my dad, father in law, my grandfather, and my brother (no other dads on my husbands side of the family otherwise we’d have even more to mail out).
Hope you had a great day! We send cards to my dad, my father-in-law, and my brother. We text our brothers-in-law and uncles.
Right back attcha (belatedly, that is).
My wife and I don’t send many cards. Her dad and one of my uncles were the only ones to get Father’s Day cards from us. I have an aunt who sends cards for just about every holiday to every person possible. My Mom used to be the same way. When they first sent a Father’s Day card to my father-in-law, he asked, “What the hell was that for?”
hilarious. i love cards but both grandpas are dead so they don’t get ’em. i have one daddy. he gets one. when i get married, hubby will get them and when i have grandbabies, sons and sons in law will get them. excuse me. i need to buy stock in hallmark now…
You know what??? I actually don’t send out any cards to ant fathers. I think this has a lot to do with society and the fact that well, although I know a lot of people I guess I really don’t know that. Many fathers. I’m thinking if I’d ever send out father’s day cards. I think its a great gesture but I don’t think I will be doing it anytine soon. But u know you’re super dope in my book. I’m a few days late on commenting but I hope you had a fantastic day.
I know I’m late chiming in, but I had to say, that card thing can get a bit tricky. The folks in my family (male and female alike) are always looking for something in them (smile). Sometimes, I figure I’m just better off picking up the phone and calling.
