I was tagged by my homie Becky for an “8 things you didn’t know about me” meme. At this point many of you know more about me than my own mother, but I still have some nuggets to share. So I might as well give up eight now.
1. The title of this post is one of my favorite songs of all time. Of course it’s a Simple Minds tune from the movie The Breakfast Club and it reps the Eighties big time.
2. My wife’s one carat VVS quality diamond flew from her engagement ring at Madison Square Garden while Prince performed Purple Rain. When the lights came up and the place emptied she actually found it!
3. I’ve worked in nonprofit for 10 years and it goes to 16 if you overlap the years that I’ve held two jobs in nonprofit simultaneously, and if you include my volunteer work.
4. One of my best friends, who I’ve known for 17 years, bought me lunch last Friday at an Indo-Chinese place. Life without friends may very well be a life not worth living.
5. I would get braces or veneers if I had the money.
6. My son’s bedroom is bigger than mine. No wonder he calls himself the king. Clearly he needs a sibling. Too bad that’s not happening.
7. I took the Dev on his first Staten Island Ferry ride last week and he loved seeing the Statue of Liberty up close. We called it “our little adventure.” The next thing we’re going to do together is go to the observation deck of the Empire State Building. Then we’re going to visit Ellis Island in person. He’s my favorite little tourist.
8. I weigh nearly 100 pounds more than my wife and she loves it. I keep telling her that I look like a darn pig in the documentary and she can’t see it. The blindness of love is what sustains me.
I’m going to eventually tag eight others but right now I want to finish watching The Ten Commandments.?
I love that song, too. Just thinking about gives me a flashback. It’s like musical acid.
Number 7 makes me realize that I never went to Ellis Island…and I grew up in North Jersey. Shame on me big time.
I hope to be able to sightsee NYC with my girls one day.
Happy Easter.
Love the 8 things…they’re great. I’ve never been to see the statue of liberty – although when i lived in jersey city I saw it from liberty state park.
Simple Minds. Prince. Talk about flashbacks! I took that ferry many, many moons ago. Very cool. Exciting to see it through a child’s eyes, eh? Thanks for playing!
Thanks . . .I’ll be singing “hey, hey, hey, hey” all day now! :0
This is my first visit here, but it won’t be my last. Love the 8 things list.

My “little ones” are now 22 & 17– I miss seeing the world–especially tourist attractions–through their eyes.
Keep enjoying it!
i love being a tourist. one carat VVS quality diamond flew from her engagement ring?????? i would’ve been so upset!! good thing she found it!
That song will be in my head the rest of the day, but that’s cool, it beats the hell outta kid’s music.
I used to really like that song too. You’re right VERY 80’s.
I’m so happy I invested in braces. Better late than never. Now if I could just managed to wear my retainer I’d be ok. Lol
I always had the smallest room in the house. I don’t know how that always happens. Dang spoiled kids. LOL. No sibling??? Come ON!!!! That would be so much fun for all of you.
It’s so fun being able to share those types of things with your kids. I’m going to have to pay a visit to NY. Theres just so much to do and so much culture. Hopefully we’ll get there one day.
Hey, when can the rest of us catch the documentary? I’m looking forward to seeing it.
Whew, I know you all were so relieved to find that diamond! Prince can even make a diamond jump up and feel the holy ghost! LOL!
