years ago today my boy was born buck naked into the world all smushy faced and pale. Now he’s round faced and brown-skinned just like dear old dad. He’s still naked for some reason too. The kid is obsessed with streaking. He likes to stand around and chat the most when his booty out. We thought he would have grown out of it by now but I suppose there are worse things in the world to be than a streaker. To be young again!
I digress. This post is about saying Happy Birthday to the coolest person I know. Sure if he falls asleep in the car and we need to get him up to the house it’s like trying to compel Jason Voorhees to sit down for a spot of tea. That’s the worse thing I can say about him these days though. (He eats a lot too, but so do I. We’re dudes.) His evolution has been substantial. Dev has shifted from toddler with a potential IEP for behavior issues to a gifted child (yes he has been certified gifted, not that I’m bragging). I’m so proud of him and his growth that I don’t know what to do with myself. None of it was by chance that’s for sure. Not getting into that in this post either.
Happy Birthday to to my happy son! I would not trade the last seven years for all the money in the world (mostly). I may be willing to forget 2006 and 2007 for a Caddy and Starbucks gift card. Man those were some rough parenting years. I’ve learned a ton though and I’m working with parents as a coach to help get them through the long moments of stress and Dev is my inspiration. I love that kid.
7? He’s already 7?!! Happy Birthday, Dev!
Happy Birthday, Dev!
That’s great. You said that the time just flew by well let me tell ya something that my wife and I did.
We have two boys that are now 18 & 16. We bought a house when the oldest was two and in our laundry room was a large posting board that the previous owners had.
So we started making a picture board out of it. We would take all kinds of pics while they were growing up.
I swear to you that it is way better than having a photo album.
Sometimes when you walk past it you get caught up in it and can just stand there staring at it.
I can not count how many people that see it and are amazed by it.
I wish I could sell the idea.
It is a must have for any proud parent.
Congrats on Dev’s 7th birthday…I remember when you were writing about issues at school..so its amazing to see that he is doing so well…happy birthday Dev and FatherDad.com
