An Interesting Internet Cancer Statistic From Yahoo

From Yahoo (posted today):

Men and Women looking out for each other:

* 43% of searches on Yahoo! Health for Prostate Cancer come from women
* 33% of searches on Yahoo! Health for Breast Cancer come from men
* 25% of searches on Yahoo! Health for Ovarian Cancer come from men
* 38% of searches on Yahoo! Health for Testicular Cancer come from women

It is good that men are interested in their women, but again women are out in front learning about (and probably taking responsibilities for the management) cancer.

Joel:

I wonder what percentage of those searches were carried out BEFORE someone was at specific risk for a diagnosis or had already been diagnosed. In other words, hoiw many searches could be classified as “in search of preventive care” as opposed to “in search of treatment-related information.”
