I recently made a video with Dr. James Mckiernan of Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City on the use of Zometa (zoledronic acid) to combat bone metastases in advanced prostate cancer that is castrate resistant.
Novartis Oncology, the makers of Zometa, sponsored the video and it was produced on the Wego Health web page. It is oriented towards to use of Zometa, but it has good and important information about bone metastases and prostate cancer.
The video can be seen at: Joel & Dr. James Mckiernan on Zometa.

Question;
I am suffering with Prostate Cancer that has gone metastases to my hip. I have had radiation on my hip and am on a ADT plan. And get Zometa once every 3 months. Is that often enough?
thx

Normally, Zometa is given every 3 to 4 weeks in men who have failed at least one hormone manipulation therapy. Some docs will change the dosage depending upon other medical conditions. Additionally, some docs will give a low dose at a different schedule ranging from every 3 to 4 months to once a year for men who have not yet failed hormone therapy. I don’t recommend this because Zometa does have its own side effects and there is no evidence that it improves bone health, but this should be a question that is decided after a careful consultation with your doctor.
