It has been announced that two important players in the fight against prostate cancer in New Zealand and Australia, ANZUP Cancer Trials Group (ANZUP) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) will work together to fund and implement new clinical trials.

ANZUP, which is one of the leading collaborative trials group for urogenital and prostate cancer in Australia and New Zealand along with the PCFA joining together should hasten the development of additional clinical trials coming from that part of the world. Both organizations have a positive history of working together for many years. According to ANZUP CEO Margaret McJannett a formal partnership is “the logical next step for clinical trials in prostate cancer”.

The highlights of the collaboration include the goals of improving access to clinical trials and the raising of $1.5 million over the next three years to fund trials.

McJannett noted that “Clinical trials are the gold standard for developing new cancer treatments and showing which treatments are the safest and most effective…..Trials independent of drug companies are particularly valuable, as they focus only on patient benefit with no commercial stake”.

We applaud our brothers in Australia and New Zealand and look forward to new clinical trials that will make a difference in our world.
